CAWP Diesel Retro-fit Project Powers Ahead
CAWP Contractor Members’ equipment is running cleaner this construction season due to a grant the Association received last year. The approximately $925,000 in funds is being utilized to repower engines, upgrade engines, or install diesel particulate filters on at least 28 pieces of off-road diesel equipment owned and operated by CAWP member contractors. Currently, 60 percent of the funds have been allocated resulting in 17 pieces of equipment being retrofitted to date.
In early January, the Association held an informational meeting and conference call to explain and answer any questions regarding the application and project. Shortly after, the Association began receiving applications for the program, and announced the Contractor Members who would be receiving funds.
CAWP was one of two AGC chapters to successfully obtain funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act National Clean Diesel Funding Assistance Program. The CAWP Diesel Retrofit Project aims to reduce diesel emissions on off-road diesel equipment operated in western Pennsylvania.
