Federal Highway Administrator Addresses AGC Convention

Federal Highway Administrator Victor Mendez told AGC’s Highway and Transportation Division during the 91st Annual Convention that the Obama Administration is putting together principles for reauthorization of the highway and transit programs and would like to see legislation enacted in this Congress.

He also pointed out that a top priority for him is to accelerate the delivery of transportation projects. He has established working groups within FHWA and promoted formation of task forces of outside stakeholders to develop recommendations. Mendez thanked AGC for its involvement, which includes participation by four contractor members. Formerly the Director of Arizona Department of Transportation, Mendez is no stranger to AGC, as the Highway and Transportation Divisions have participated for years on AGC’s joint committee with AASHTO.
