CAWP Members Assist in Promoting Workzone Awareness Week
To assist CAWP in promoting safety during Workzone Awareness Week on April 3-9, the following CAWP Contractor members helped increase the public’s awareness by placing Variable Message Signs along roadways and offices:
Joseph B. Fay Company, Golden Triangle Construction Company, Inc., Lane Construction Corporation, Mashuda Corporation, and Francis J. Palo, Inc.
CAWP also put together a billboard campaign comprised of children’s artwork stressing the importance of workzone safety. The drawings, from children ages 5-12, were selected from the winning entries of CAWP’s fourth annual Kids Construction Safety Calendar Contest. The entries showed the child’s parent or relative working safely on a heavy and highway construction project.
Five of the twelve winning entries from the contest were featured on billboards for Workzone Awareness Week, as they truly exemplify and convey the message of workzone safety. Four traditional billboards ran for the month of April (approximately March 28 - April 17), with locations near the child’s hometown, including Route 68 East, 1.1 miles north of Harmony (Zelienople), Route 56 East, 0.3 miles south of 7th Street (New Kensington), Route 68, 0.6 miles south of the intersection with Route 322 East (Clarion), and Route 51 South - Saw Mill Run Boulevard, 800 feet north of Englert (Overbrook). The five entries were also placed on digital boards from April 3-9, locations including the Parkway West, Parkway East, and I-279 North.
